MUSIC AND SONGS FROM THE ISLE OF MAN
Staa are a long-running family group who perform ancient and modern Manx songs and tunes. Their delicate arrangements blend the earthy sounds of viola, violin, harp and guitar with vocal harmonies sung in Manx Gaelic. Following twenty years of playing together at home and at festivals in Britain and Ireland, Staa have finally recorded and released their first album, ‘She Lhong Honnick Mee’. The album was recorded on the west coast of the Island in the fishing town of Peel. The songs tell of lovers lost at sea, tragedies of the ocean and celebrate the Manx language.
